How can we create mass housing resilient to climate change?

Housing in Flood Plain

Design Research Study | Gowanus Canal, New York City

Located at the terminus of the Gowanus Canal in New York City, this mass housing prototype explores how to create housing within an active flood plain.

A layered approach

During a 100 year flood event, the parking structure is designed to take on water, while the residential base level is positioned 30 feet above ground level.
